Sam has contributed to numerous fisheries and mariculture research projects since joining McKinley Research Group in 2021. He frequently works across disciplines to help clients answer geographic questions.
Sam developed expertise in Alaska fisheries over 10 years as a journalist in Alaska and a year as a retail fishmonger. In his wide-ranging reporting career, he wrote for the Kodiak Daily Mirror and the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, covering subjects including water contamination, military base closures, and the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race.
Sam holds a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies from Carleton College and is a geography graduate student at Penn State University World Campus. He works remotely from Vermont.
